Project overview
The OL-Ndanyat 30 MW Wind Power Project is a significant, privately-developed renewable energy venture by Ol-Ndanyat Power Company Limited (ONPCL) located in the wind-rich Ngong Hills, Kajiado County, Kenya. Harnessing some of Kenya’s best wind resources—characterized by annual wind speeds of $8.0$ to $9.2$ m/s—the project will install twelve $2.5$ MW wind turbines to achieve a total capacity of 30 MW. This facility is expected to generate approximately 141 GWh of clean electricity annually, capable of powering over 70,000 households and offsetting 93,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions per year, thus strongly supporting Kenya’s climate goals and Vision 2030. The project is technically and economically viable, with all necessary studies and land acquisition completed, and notably, the entire capital investment has been fully secured through private equity financing, guaranteeing risk-free implementation and ensuring its strategic alignment with national energy expansion and decarbonization efforts.
